Please read the following lines carefully.

On this site I want to tell you what's allowed and what's not. I try to explain everything in clear, understandable words. Make sure to read the FAQ under the point "Terms of Use" and contact me if questions come up while reading.

License

All content on this website is licensed under a Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.

So, what does this mean?

Attribution:
You are free to share (copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format) and adapt (remix, transform and build upon the material) my work as long as you give appropriate credit.
You should brand the work by citing the title of the work, the copyright notice, my name and the license name, and provide a link to my work and the licence, that others can figure out the licence terms, e.g.:
This work includes the illustration “Illustration’s Title,” available under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial license, © Lars Feske. If the original work includes a copyright notice, it must be left intact.

NonCommercial:
You are free to share (copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format) and adapt (remix, transform and build upon the material) my work as long as you're not selling the work or using it for commercial projects. Contact me for permission, if you want to use any of my code in a commercial project.

You are allowed to create templates from the resources on my website if you integrate them and build upon them, but not "as-is".

You want to create extensions or ports out of my code? You’d like to translate articles and/or republish them? Please contact me.

I’d like to see what’s going on, because I want to make sure that you aren't asking people to pay for code that is provided by me for free.

Terms Of Use

Note, that present/future tutorials and development resources are experimental and not ready for production, but made for demonstration purpose. Often you will have to modify the code to make it usable and/or provide support to other browsers.

Respect the licenses of the resources (audio, video or images), that I use in the demos of my tutorials and articles. I'll always indicate the license in the article and link to the owner/creator. If you write about some of my work, I would like you to add a link to my works. You are free to copy excerpts, but please do not copy entire articles, as entire articles are copyrighted and I reserve all rights of them. Don’t republish available archive files, and don’t link directly to them, but rather to the whole article.

FAQ

Can I use your code in a personal project?

Yes, you can use the code as-is or modify it for your own needs, as long as the attribution notice is included.

Can I use your code in a client's project?

Yes, as long as the code is attributed and you're building upon it, and you're not charging the client for the code itself, because all resources I provide are for free, unless stated otherwise.

What about source code that is hosted on Codepen and/or Github?

Source code hosted on Codepen is automatically licensed under MIT, under which also possible publications of my demonstrations could come within. This means, that a copyright notice should be included in copies of the code, which could look like this:
Copyright © Lars Feske
Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy of this software and associated documentation files (the "Software"), to deal in the Software without restriction, including without limitation the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the Software, and to permit persons to whom the Software is furnished to do so, subject to the following conditions:

The above copyright notice and this permission notice shall be included in all copies or substantial portions of the Software.

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE.
Include this notice in the source code and you're good to go. No further attribution is required (although it would be appreciated) and you can use the code for your purposes (private and commercial).

Code that is available on Github, is subject to the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial license like the rest of my website resources, unless I state otherwise in the readme file of the repository, which hosts the source code.

One last thing:
The license (CC Attribution-NonCommercial) does not require you to inform me, that you are using my CC-licensed work, but it would be nice to hear from you. I would be very happy, to hear that someone is using and building upon my work; that’s why I use CC licenses in first place.

Thank you for reading this page. I hope you enjoy my works and find them useful.
